Life And Real Estate in Salem County, NJ: I Love To Shop Local - Dad's Produce

I Love To Shop Local - Dad's Produce

I Love To Shop Local - Dad's Produce

It's that time of the year again.  The Memorial Day parade is scheduled for next Sat., May 21st at 10am, beginning at the Pennsville Shopping Center and ending at the PMHS High School.

That means it's time to plant some pretty annuals at The Coldwell Banker Pino Agency's office.  We are on the parade route, after all.  Our front lawn is one of the best spots for parade watching!  So, in preparation we've got to have our flower beds up-to-snuff.

Today's 'field trip' was to Dad's Produce.  Marigolds, geraniums and some type of ivy-like vine caught my eye.

Dad's ProduceJust look at all of those pretty flowers.......

I spoke to 'Dad' today.  He told me that he's celebrating his 29th year in business this year.  He sure had some lovely things on display today:

*  hanging baskets

*  flats of annuals

*  individual flower pots

*  mulch

*  NJ strawberries

*  NJ asparagus

*  NJ hothouse tomatoes and more!

Speaking of those hothouse tomatoes, 'Dad' picked up a knife and cut a nice, big luscious slice for me.  Man, was that good!  'Dad' said that these tomatoes almost taste like field tomatoes and he was right!

hot house tomatoesWhat beauties!   Everyone knows (or should know that NJ tomatoes are the BEST!!!!

The Jersey berries were lovely, too.  (Anybody ready for some shortcake?)   NJ Strawberries

Billy The Kid was along for the ride.  He was most interested in the mulch.  Billy didn't realize there would be two types to choose from.  He liked the two tones of mulch 'cause it reminded him of his own multi-colored coat.

Billy The KidBilly always likes to shop local. He thinks it's important to support his friends and neighbors that way.

'Dad' and staffMeet Billy's newest friends.

 'Dad' is kind of hiding in the back.  His staff couldn't have been friendlier.  I think he might be munching on the rest of that hothouse tomato, but I'm not really sure.  If you're in need of some fresh produce, some pretty flowers or some craft items, stop in to see 'Dad'.  He's there seven days a week, from 10am to 6pm.

Chris, those tomatoes sure look good!  Strawberry season is basically over for us here in Florida, so we'll get them from other places now.  Happy planting this weekend!
